Kingdom Coaching
We learn from two things in life, mistakes and mentors. Mistakes are painful and they take time to recover from. Mentorship is a gift from God and it is God’s way of bringing exponential growth to our lives as believers. There is no problem accept a wisdom problem. If you increase your level of learning you increase your level of living. There are no marriage problems only wisdom problems – there are no money problems only wisdom problems. If you are unteachable you are unreachable. Somebody out there has the answer to your problem and they are not your friend. This program is designed to catapult you to the next level in God and in your destiny.
Why mentorship?
Life is all about the choices we make. One choice can affect our generations and our children’s children. You choose to believe God. You choose to treat your body wrong. You choose to get up in the morning. Life is not lead by our desires or our feelings. Life is lead by our choices. Even if you choose not to get out of bed you still chose. You chose not to. Feelings can be motivators and desires can be influencers but ultimately the choice that you make is the important factor. Choice is God’s free gift from the garden of Eden. If I don’t give you a choice I don’t really love you. That is why God gave a choice to Adam. Choose to eat from the tree of life and live – Choose to eat from the tree of Knowledge of good and evil and die. Simple, but significant. The choice indicated God’s love for Adam by not forcing Adam to love God back. Your choices affect you and others. The higher you go in the Kingdom and in your leadership the more impact your choices will have. So, choose with wisdom. Where does wisdom come from? God alone. God created the worlds with wisdom and He created you by wisdom. So when the creation is having trouble you always consult the manufacturer (God) for help. You can also consult the owner’s manual (Bible). Or you can consult those who work for the creator and they can also give you wisdom (Mentors). If you want to know how the product was designed to function then refer back to the one who designed it. Your life was created to have purpose and to function according to God’s master plan and design. So in order for your life to function properly you must stay connected to the creator to understand your full purpose. You can only be mentored by someone who is connected to the creator.
How mentorship/Coaching works
A MENTOR is not a friend. Friends comfort you – family humbles you – enemies promote you – and mentors propel you. A mentor must be someone that you admire. There must be something that you see in them that you desire such as success or wisdom or a great family. A mentor can never give you what they do not possess. So make sure that you feel they have something to offer you. A mentor is not there to give you stuff. When you are in a mentoring relationship it is not their job to give you money or cars or stuff. That will end the relationship quickly. The only thing that you can expect from a mentor is WISDOM. If you expect attention or pity or respect then you will not last long. The only thing that a mentor is looking for is one thing – a QUESTION. Questions birth answers and answers birth success. There is power in a question. God asked Adam a question in the Garden. Adam – where are you? Now the almighty doesn’t ask a question because He is seeking information. He knows everything. The question was there to get Adams attention. To get Adam to think. The question should really be phrased – Adam do you know where you are? People need direction but they need to know where they are at in order to start. So the mentor will ask you powerful questions that will draw the purpose out of you. But most importantly you must always come into the mentor’s presence with a question. Questions are a mentor’s friend because they pull on the wisdom that he possesses. The greatest thing that you can ever give a mentor is a question. That question will unleash a flood of wisdom and enable you to make the right choices in life.
The plan
There is a process to mentorship that will make it most effective for you. I call it the big 5. They are Mentor – Question – Wisdom – Choices – Evaluate. These are the steps to effective mentorship. The MENTOR is sought out by the person needing mentorship. If the mentor has to seek you out and chase you down the relationship will not last. The mentor is then asked QUESTIONS by the mentoree in order to pull on the WISDOM needed. That question unleashes the wisdom of God to the person and they are now faced with a CHOICE. Do what the mentor advised or choose not to listen. The mentor will be looking to see if the person has mad choices according to the wisdom given and will then EVALUATE whether or not mentorship should continue based on the response from the person. You cannot expect a mentor to continue to pour out the wisdom of God if the person being mentored is not making choices according to that wisdom. Nothing frustrates a mentor more that un-used wisdom. Mentoring relationships are not open ended. The relationship will last for 6 months and then the mentor will see the growth and maturity of mentoree and evaluate if the relationship should continue. If the evaluation is positive then the mentor takes on a spiritual fathering role and the meetings become more infrequent but more supportive. It is very simple, success = Mentor + Question + Wisdom + Choices = Success!
